About Cheryl Labahn Simeone
I am a semi-retired person who is an Artist. I have had numerous job positions involving having an Art background. I have a B.A. in Art and Education from Johnson State College, VT. I have 30 graduate hours from SUNY Cortland in Art and Education. I have my New York State Permanent Certification as an Art Teacher K-12. I studied classical art from Tom Vincent until his passing a few years ago. He was an amazing teacher and there is a warm spot in my heart for him. He was an extremely accomplished artist and I believe he has a painting in the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. I taught 4th and 5th grades in Art for two years, then started a family and stayed home for a few years.
My main style is Impressionism, in plein air, and some studio. I have also worked in a Realistic style, from the Renaissance to present day realism. I use mostly acrylic and oils however, I do use watercolors, and watercolor pencils on occasion. Once in a great while I use egg tempera but it is very time sensitive and for some reason I work slowly and sometimes have three paintings going at one time and one will sit for quite a while before I work on it again. Rotten eggs, smell!!!! smile, chuckle.
